TAFF seeks skilled, enthusiastic and dedicated individuals to assist with the planning and production of the 2nd annual Taiwanese American Film Festival, which takes place August 3-4, 2018. These positions consists of project-oriented tasks such as event planning, public relations, database management, outreach, and clerical and archival work.

OPEN VOLUNTEER POSITIONS
SHORT FILMS COORDINATOR

The Taiwanese American Film Festival is looking for a Short Films Coordinator to assist in creating our short film program(s) for the next Festival. Join a passionate, effective and close-knit team in our 2nd year as we grow and expand our highly anticipated Festival. We are looking for film enthusiasts who have an interest in event planning, community building and Taiwanese culture. This is a volunteer position.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Work with TAFF core team on preparing for the short film program(s), which may include:

  • Corresponding with accepted short filmmakers, keeping them in the loop and making travel arrangements (if necessary).

  • Handles Print and Traffic for short films

  • Obtaining and returning all required press and exhibition materials from filmmakers

  • Collecting headshot & bios from filmmakers for our program, website and social media

  • Manages projection staff hosting shorts program(s) the day of the festival

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Excellent communication, writing and organizational skills

  • Ability to work as a member of a team and independently

  • Ability to handle multiple, immediate tasks while paying close attention to detail

  • Available during the days of our festival; August 3-4

  • Must be based in Los Angeles

  • Previous film festival or event planning experience is highly desirable

SPECIAL PRESENTATIONS/PANELS COORDINATOR

The Taiwanese American Film Festival is looking for a Special Presentations/Panels Coordinator to assist in creating our panel programs for the next Festival. Join a passionate, effective and close-knit team in our 2nd year as we grow and expand our highly anticipated Festival. We are looking for film enthusiasts who have an interest in event planning, community building and Taiwanese culture. This is a volunteer position.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Work closely with the Creative Director on:

  • Brainstorm topics for special presentations and/or panels

  • Outreach and be in correspondence with panelists and speakers

  • Handles Print and Traffic for special presentations and panels

  • Obtaining and returning all required press and exhibition materials from panelists and speakers

  • Collecting headshot & bios from panelists and speakers for our program, website and social media

  • Manages projection staff hosting panel program(s) the day of the festival

SPECIAL EVENTS COORDINATOR

The Taiwanese American Film Festival is looking for a Special Events Coordinator to assist in creating our special events (parties!) at our next Festival. Join a passionate, effective and close-knit team in our 2nd year as we grow and expand our highly anticipated Festival. We are looking for film enthusiasts who have an interest in event planning, community building and Taiwanese culture. This is a volunteer position.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Work closely with the Creative Director on:

  • Research and secure all party/afterparty venues

  • Coordinate closely with Opening/Closing night venue managers

  • Coordinate delivery to events with food/alcohol sponsors

  • Collect logos, ads and deliverables from our food/alcohol sponsors for our Festival program & website

  • Manage front-of-house flow during all festival parties

COMMUNITY OUTREACH COORDINATOR

The Taiwanese American Film Festival is looking for a Community Outreach Coordinator to build and strengthen our relationships with our community for the next Festival. Join a passionate, effective and close-knit team in our 2nd year as we grow and expand our highly anticipated Festival. We are looking for film enthusiasts who have an interest in event planning, community building and Taiwanese culture. This is a volunteer position.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Work with the TAFF core team and TAP-LA, which may include:

  • Strategize and pair film programs & special events with community organizations

  • Outreach and correspond with community, government and young professional organizations 

  • Maintain partnerships throughout the year, either through cross-promotions or co-presentations 

  • Collect logos, ads and deliverables from our community partners for our Festival program & website

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Excellent communication, writing and organizational skills

  • Ability to work as a member of a team and independently

  • Ability to handle multiple, immediate tasks while paying close attention to detail

  • Available during the days of our festival; August 3-4

  • Must be based in Los Angeles

  • Previous community organization or event planning experience is a plus

  • Fluent in Mandarin Chinese and English is highly desirable

VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR

The Taiwanese American Film Festival is looking for a Volunteer Coordinator to coordinate and lead our volunteers for the next Festival. Join a passionate, effective and close-knit team in our 2nd year as we grow and expand our highly anticipated Festival. We are looking for film enthusiasts who have an interest in event planning, community building and Taiwanese culture. This is a volunteer position.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Organize, coordinate and manage the recruitment of volunteers

  • Develop and implement training program for Volunteer Orientation day

  • Maintain and update our volunteer shifts, schedule and database

  • Manage all volunteer staff during the days of the festival

  • Create and implement a Volunteer Recognition event

GUEST SERVICES COORDINATOR

The Taiwanese American Film Festival is looking for a Guest Services Coordinator to coordinate and manage our guests’ hospitality needs for the next Festival. Join a passionate, effective and close-knit team in our 2nd year as we grow and expand our highly anticipated Festival. We are looking for film enthusiasts who have an interest in event planning, community building and Taiwanese culture. This is a volunteer position.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work with Box Office team to create and organize accreditation for all selected filmmakers, panelists, VIP and their guests

  • Correspond with potential accredited guests and keep them in the loop until the Festival

  • Assist with the coordination of hospitality needs for some filmmakers and/or industry guests

  • Respond to general inquiries and requests from guests and delegate via email and onsite during the Festival

  • Provide on-site assistance to guests during the Festival for pass pick-up, tickets and general questions
